Surgery

No owner finds the decision for surgery easy. Knowing that, we built our surgical process on three pillars: a thorough assessment before the operation, a sterile and well-equipped operating room, and close follow-up afterwards.

Before the operation

We never put a patient under anesthesia without assessing them first. Ahead of surgery we run an exam and blood tests to look at the liver, the kidneys and the blood picture. The anesthesia plan is tailored to the patient on the basis of those results. We discuss the risks, the course of the operation and the recovery with you in advance, and we keep explaining until you have no questions left.

Which operations do we perform?

  • Spaying and neutering for cats and dogs
  • Soft tissue surgery
  • Tumor and mass removal
  • Cesarean section
  • Wound and trauma repair
  • Oral surgery involving tooth extraction

During the operation our patients are on monitors and the depth of anesthesia is watched continuously.

After the operation

A patient coming out of surgery stays under observation until fully awake. Where needed, we continue inpatient care in our hospitalization unit. At discharge you receive written instructions covering pain management, wound care and feeding. Follow-up exams are scheduled through to suture removal, and you can reach us by phone with anything on your mind.

We recommend spaying and neutering not only to prevent unwanted litters but also to guard against serious conditions such as mammary tumors and uterine infection. The right timing is something we settle together at the exam.
