Preventive Care

The cheapest and most effective treatment in medicine is never falling ill in the first place. Preventive care aims at exactly that. Your pet is checked at regular intervals while still healthy, risks are flagged early, and precautions are taken while there is still time.

What does the annual checkup include?

In the general exam we listen to the heart and lungs, look inside the mouth, check the ears, eyes and skin, and track weight. Depending on age and risk, we add blood and urine testing. These screenings can catch drifting kidney and liver values years before the first symptom appears.

Protection against internal and external parasites is part of the program too. Fleas, ticks and intestinal worms are not just a nuisance, they carry serious disease. We build a protection schedule around how your pet actually lives. A dog that runs in the park and a cat that never leaves the apartment do not share a risk profile, and their protection should not be identical either.

Why does early diagnosis matter so much?

Animals hide pain and discomfort. By the time an owner notices something, the disease has usually come a long way. In patients who come in for regular checkups, we catch conditions such as kidney failure, diabetes and dental disease at a much earlier stage. Disease caught early is easier and cheaper to treat, and it takes less away from your pet's quality of life.

For a healthy-looking pet we recommend a checkup once a year, and every six months past the age of seven.
